Santa Fe Outdoor Activities

Just what kind of outdoor activities can be found in Santa Fe New Mexico? First of all, Santa Fe is a very old city that has an abundant amount of tangible culture and heritage-related activities to see and do. Santa Fe outdoor activities have a long history of entertaining the rich and famous. Times are different now and anyone can afford to enjoy the outdoor activities in Santa Fe.

Horseback Riding at the Broken Saddle

Once you have landed in Santa Fe and have had chance to settle in; pack up some rugged clothes and head on down to the Broken Saddle. In case you haven’t figured it out yet, this is a horseback riding ranch. It’s a little bit of a drive (43 miles northeast) and you may want to head out early. The Broken saddle sits right next to the Santa Fe national forest, but the ride is well worth the experience of moving with the horse in the old western saddle through the gorgeous mountainous terrain.

On this wonderful adventure you will be riding through foot hills and along mountain ridges that will give you 360 pantographic views of the surrounding mountain ranges. Make sure to bring your camera. You can also find great places to go hiking, rappelling, rock climbing and more if you’re an adrenaline junky who dares to climb the dramatic 70-foot cliffs on the outskirts of Santa Fe.

Something for Adrenaline Junkies

If you are one of those adrenaline seekers, then another outdoor adventure in Santa Fe that will bring you a rush is the gush of water. Pack your wetsuit and get ready to go whitewater rafting. There are plenty of choices for whitewater rafting in Santa Fe, but there is a company called “New Wave Rafting Co” that is out of this world or their minds with crazy adventures. New wave has been giving the very best in outdoor adventures since 1980. I can’t think of a better way to spend a day’s worth of outdoor activity in Santa Fe than getting wet and wild down the Rio Grande. This is one thrill ride you will never forget. They have also plenty of rides for the families that are looking for a mellow ride.

Golf Getaways in Santa Fe

Of course, Santa Fe has many beautiful golf courses to play a 9, 18 or even 27-hole golf if you’re visiting or living in New Mexico. Santa Fe is blessed with having a mountain range in the middle of the desert. This gives Santa Fe with the unique advantage of having the best of both worlds with snow and hot weather all within driving distance during winter seasons. Ski Santa Fe is located about 12,000 feet above sea level and provides some of the best skiing in the world. This is a family-orientated slope but does provide plenty of skilled trails for those thrill seekers.

No matter what your itinerary may be, there so many outdoor activities Santa Fe can offer you and your family that you probably won’t be able to do them all. Santa Fe will quickly become a family favorite.
